"Fertility-sparing endoscopic surgery: Endometriosis, ovarian surgery, fibroids, adenomyosis, gyneco-oncology"
Dr Tommaso Falcone & Dr. Jacques Donnez
Fertility preservation encompasses a broad range of concepts for patients. Fertility sparing approach to the management of common gynecologic problems where surgical intervention is necessary requires insight in the technique. Fertility experts are not necessarily the physicians managing these patients.
This ½ day workshop is aimed at physicians, gynecologic surgeons, fertility experts as well as nurses who are involved in the management of these patients. This course is designed to critically address the current knowledge of surgical technique to preserve fertility when a surgical intervention is necessary. We will discuss the current recommendations of medical and surgical management in these patients. Topics to be discussed include: management of deeply infiltrating endometriosis and endometrioma, adenomyosis, leiomyoma as well as ovarian and cervical cancers. Technical aspects of surgical approaches will be reviewed.
After participating in this course, participants should be able to:
Discuss clinical implications of adenomyosis on fertility
Compare and contrast feasible surgical treatment for endometriosis in order to preserve fertility
Describe the surgical approach to removing fibroids
Discuss the optimal surgical approach for preserving fertility in women with cervical cancer or malignant ovarian cysts
