2018 ISFP New Year Letter
Dear ISFP members and friends,
With the upcoming holiday and New Year celebrations, I would like to wish you a joyful holiday season and a New Year of health happiness and accomplishment of clinical and scientific goals.
With these greetings please find a report of the society activities and future plans:
The 5th ISFP world Congress:
In November we held our 5th biannual Congress in Vienna, Austria. The meeting was a great success as reflected by the positive reviews we received during and after the event from the participants and Faculty members. The ISFP Congress had 435 participants coming from 56 countries, 66 Faculty members, 114 abstracts were accepted for presentation-21 oral and 93 posters. Six young scientists and physicians received award for presenting excellent research. The clinical progress shown, the novel research achievements and the large number of high impact abstracts submitted are prominent proof of the excellent hard work that each one of you is doing.
All meeting abstracts, PDF files of presentations and videos will be uploaded to our new website within a few days. This will be available only to active society members.
Our society has significantly grown and numbers 780 members as of the end of 2017.
Board of directors:
Two new members joined the ISFP board of directors this year: Dr Nalini Mahajan from India, and Prof Michael von Wolff from Switzerland. We warmly embrace them and look forward to their active contribution to our society.
Connection with other societies:
The field of Fertility Preservation engages multidisciplinary fields with the aim of providing solutions for females and males facing conditions that might prevent future reproduction. Last year the society tightened its connections with other disciplines in medicine and with the community surrounding us. Some of these activities included Educational sessions at the annual meeting of the European Hematology Association (EHA) in Madrid, the 3rd ESO-ESMO Biannual meeting of Breast Cancer in Young Women International Conference (BCY3) Lugano. Such activities should continue in coming years and society members are encouraged to make connections with other related societies to bring our vision to them.
ISFP Internet site:
Our new internet site is a dynamic site www.isfp-fertility.org/, and our site manager is Dr. Gil Peer email@example.com. The site aims to highlight Fertility Preservation activities around the world - each one of you is invited to share your meetings, activities or other points of interest.
Our ISFP Newsletter:
We have two new active editors who joined the Newsletter board: Professor Laura Detti and Dr. Moran Shapira. We aim to publish 6 Newsletters during 2018. All members are invited to send us interesting publications and new books related to our field so that we can keep our readers updated.
During the meeting in Vienna we announced the results of our 2019 board of director's election. From January 2019 our next president will be Professor Tommaso Falcone, vice president professor Marie Madeleine Dolmans, Secretary Professor Debra Gook and Treasurer Professor Hamish Wallace.
Happy holidays and a Happy New Year,
Professor Dror Meirow
